Food Handler

1) Select the state where you require your certification.
2) Add the course to your cart.
3) Enter your email address at the checkout page and follow the rest of the prompts. An email address and phone number is required to take any Cert Academy course.
4) Check your email for the link to login and launch your course.

The Food Handler course is ANSI-accredited and meets the requirement of a Food Handler card for many jobs related to the direct or indirect handling of food.

The course is self paced, meaning you can learn on your own time. If committing to completing it in one sitting, it generally takes about 90 minutes to complete. You can pause and resume the course if you need to break it up.
Please note that course length and exam length can vary depending on each learner’s speed!

Your certificate can be accessed in three ways:
1) Upon completion of the course, you will be prompted in your learner portal to download your certificate.
2) The certificate will also be sent to the email address you registered with upon course/exam completion.
3) You can access the certificate in your learning hub under the “Details” section after you open the course.

The Food Handler course is ANSI-accredited and meets the requirement of a Food Handler card for many jobs related to the direct or indirect handling of food.
Roles in food facilities who are prepping, handling or storing food need a Food Handler’s card.
Typical job titles that require a Food Handler’s card include but are not limited to:
Catering Server, Prep Cook, Line Cook, Food Runner, Bartenders, Hosts/Hostesses, Managers, Food Warehouse Staff, and more!

The Cert Academy’s Food Handler certificate is accepted in all states, with the exception of Utah (you will be directed to purchase via a Cert Academy partner). Be sure to select the state you will need your food handler’s certification in before checkout.

Yes generally the Food Handler certificate will expire after 2-3 years depending on the state. Be sure to check the expiration date on your certificate once you complete the course.

Alcohol Safety Training

If you are taking the California RBS or Tennessee ABC program, you will need to take additional steps to register with the respective departments prior to purchasing the course with The Cert Academy. Please check the product page for specific instructions.

The course offerings cover requirements across California ABC (RBS), Tennessee ABC (TABC), Illinois BASSET, and a nationwide course for 47 states. It provides alcohol servers with education on safety, liability, and more, in line with nationwide requirements to train and enforce alcohol seller/servers to serve responsibly.
